How to use the 3D Vector Products Calculator

Enter exactly three components for each vector in one Cartesian coordinate system. The angle uses the smaller angle from zero to 180 degrees.

The calculation

a·b = Σ ai bi; a×b = (ay bz−az by, az bx−ax bz, ax by−ay bx)

Worked example

Vectors (1,0,0) and (0,1,0) have dot product zero, cross product (0,0,1) and angle 90 degrees.

Assumptions and limits

Both vectors must be nonzero to define an angle. Cross-product direction assumes the usual right-handed coordinate convention; no coordinate conversion is performed.

Common questions
