How to use the Weighted Median Calculator

Enter each value and its positive relative weight on a separate line. Weights need not add to one, because scaling all weights together leaves the result unchanged.

The calculation

Sort values; select the first value with cumulative weight ≥ half of total weight

Worked example

Values 10, 20 and 30 with weights 1, 3 and 1 have weighted median 20.

Assumptions and limits

Uses the lower weighted-median convention at an exact half-weight tie. It does not interpolate a midpoint or substitute for a weighted mean.
