How to use the Customer Acquisition Cost Calculator
Choose an attribution window and use only newly acquired customers from that same window. Decide which salaries, agency fees and campaign costs belong in your acquisition definition before comparing channels or periods.
The calculation
Worked example
$12,000 marketing and $8,000 sales costs for 100 new customers give a $200 acquisition cost per customer.
Assumptions and limits
The tool cannot infer attribution, cost allocations or delayed conversions. Returning customers should not be counted as newly acquired unless that is an explicitly defined reacquisition metric.
Common questions
Should I count all sales?
No. CAC divides by customers acquired, not by orders or total transactions.
Can I compare two channels?
Use comparable cost definitions and attribution windows for each calculation.
