How to use the Salary Calculator
Choose the type of pay you entered and specify the work schedule it represents. Hourly mode calculates annual earnings from hours and weeks. Annual mode divides a stated salary by the entered annual working hours to show an hourly equivalent. The weekly equivalent is based on the weeks you supplied, so it is a work-schedule comparison rather than a payroll-calendar calculation.
The calculation
Worked example
$25 per hour, 40 hours a week and 52 working weeks gives $52,000 in annual gross pay. The monthly average is $4,333.33.
Assumptions and limits
All amounts are gross, before taxes or deductions. There is no automatic overtime premium, benefits valuation, paid-leave assumption or local employment rule. Hours and working weeks must be positive to derive an equivalent rate. An annual salary’s monthly value is divided by 12 even when the entered working weeks are fewer than 52.
Common questions
Is this my take-home pay?
No. Withholding, insurance, retirement contributions and other deductions are not calculated.
Can I compare part-time work?
Yes. Enter the relevant weekly hours and weeks worked, keeping the pay rate and schedule consistent.
