How to use the E-commerce Order Profit Calculator
Separate shipping collected from shipping paid. Percentage fees apply to product price plus collected shipping in this model. Enter a probability-weighted average return expense yourself when comparing expected order economics.
The calculation
Worked example
$55 collected revenue with $20 product cost, $8 shipping, a 3% + $0.30 fee, $5 acquisition and $2 expected returns leaves $18.05.
Assumptions and limits
Platform tax treatment, fee caps, taxes and inventory overhead are not inferred. Revenue and costs must use the same currency and avoid double-counting fees or return expenses.
Common questions
Is this business-wide profit?
No. It is an expected contribution from one order under the included cost assumptions.
What if a platform excludes shipping from fees?
This tool assumes fees on the collected total. Use a matching effective fee input or a separate calculation for that platform.
