How to use the US Retirement Contribution Limit Calculator

Check a contribution ceiling, not account eligibility. Choose the year and account. The special 60–63 catch-up replaces the normal 50-plus catch-up rather than adding to it.

The calculation

Limit = year-specific base + applicable age catch-up; IRA limit also cannot exceed eligible compensation

Worked example

At age 62 in 2026, the standard employee 401(k) deferral ceiling including the special age-60–63 catch-up is $35,750.

Assumptions and limits

Does not determine deductibility, Roth MAGI phase-outs, employer contributions, plan restrictions or mandatory Roth catch-up treatment. Compensation supplied must already be eligible under applicable rules; shared account limits remain the user’s responsibility.
