How to use the Invoice Fee Gross-up Calculator

Enter the amount you want left after one payment-processing fee. The percentage fee applies to the gross charge itself, which is why adding the fee percentage to the target does not exactly reverse the deduction.

The calculation

Gross charge = (target net + fixed fee) / (1 − percentage fee)

Worked example

To receive $100 after a 3% fee plus $0.30, the unrounded gross amount is about $103.40206.

Assumptions and limits

The display rounds to cents. Actual processor rounding, fees on taxes, multiple fixed charges and permitted surcharge rules may differ. This is arithmetic, not authorization to add a payment surcharge.

Common questions

Why not charge $103.30?

Three percent of $103.30 is more than $3, so a simple addition does not recover the full target.

Does this fetch provider rates?

No. Enter the rate and fixed fee that apply to your transaction.
