How to use the US Annual Wage Take-Home Estimate Calculator

Model one employee with a basic standard deduction. Traditional retirement deferral reduces ordinary federal taxable wages in this model but not Social Security or Medicare wages. The result is annual net resources, with a monthly average.

The calculation

Annual take-home = wages − retirement deferral − federal schedule tax − employee OASDI − Medicare − other deductions

Worked example

$60,000 wages, no deferral and single basic standard deduction in 2026 give $5,020 federal schedule tax, $4,590 employee payroll tax and $50,390 annual take-home.

Assumptions and limits

Not an employer W-4 withholding computation. No state/local tax, other income, credits, age/blind deductions, pre-tax health benefits or self-employment. Additional Medicare uses the selected annual filing threshold, which can differ from employer withholding at $200,000.
