How to use the GPA Calculator
Enter one grade-point and credit pair per line, separated by a comma or space. Use numeric grade points rather than letter grades because institutions map letters differently. A higher-credit course contributes more strongly to the average. The calculator reports the sum of quality points as well as the credits and number of courses.
The calculation
Worked example
Three courses with pairs (4 points, 3 credits), (3 points, 3 credits) and (2 points, 2 credits) yield 25 quality points across 8 credits and a GPA of 3.125.
Assumptions and limits
This page uses a 0–4 numerical scale. It does not assign grades for A+, honors weighting, pass/fail classes, retakes, transfer credits or institutional rounding. Credits must be positive and only courses intended to count toward GPA should be entered. Up to 200 course rows are supported. Use your institution’s official rules for an official GPA.
Common questions
Can I enter an A or B?
Convert it to the grade points your institution assigns first. The tool deliberately does not guess a letter-grade policy.
Do all courses count equally?
Only if they have equal credits. The credit-weighted formula gives a larger contribution to a course with more credits.
