How to use the Aligned Rectangle Packing Calculator

The tool compares keeping every item in its original orientation with rotating every item 90 degrees. Dimensions use the same units and no gaps.

The calculation

Count = max[floor(L/l)floor(W/w), floor(L/w)floor(W/l)]

Worked example

A 100×60 cm container fits 20 aligned 20×15 cm rectangles in the better uniform orientation.

Assumptions and limits

This is not a general bin-packing optimizer. Mixed orientations, clearance, irregular shapes and stacking can change feasible packing.
