How to use the Image Print Size Calculator

Use the pixel dimensions of the actual image after cropping. The result does not resize the file; it describes how large those pixels would appear at the selected density.

The calculation

Printed inches = pixel dimension / pixels per inch

Worked example

A 6,000 × 4,000 pixel image at 300 pixels/inch prints at 20 × 13.3333 inches.

Assumptions and limits

Pixel density is often called DPI in print dialogs but is distinct from a printer’s physical dot pattern. Sharpness also depends on content and viewing distance, so this is not a print-quality guarantee.

Common questions

Does changing a DPI metadata tag create detail?

No. It changes the nominal print scale without creating new source pixels.

Can I use centimeters?

The result also provides centimeters, using 2.54 cm per inch.
