How to use the Tip Calculator
Enter the amount on which you want to base the tip, then choose a percentage and the number of people splitting equally. The result separates the tip from the complete bill and also shows the tip share per person. If you prefer to calculate a tip before tax, enter the pre-tax amount and account for the tax separately; this tool does not infer a local tipping rule.

An $80 bill with a 15% tip adds $12. Split between two people, the total is $46 per person.
Assumptions and limits
The split is equal rather than itemized. It does not calculate sales tax, service charges, currency exchange or restaurant-specific rules. Monetary results are rounded to cents, so multiplying the displayed per-person amount by the number of people can occasionally differ by a cent from the total. The group can settle any remainder separately.
Common questions
Is tax included?
Only if it is part of the bill amount you entered. The calculator applies the tip percentage to that full input.
Can I enter a zero tip?
Yes. The calculator will split the original bill without adding a tip.
