How to use the Recipe Scaling Calculator
Enter one ingredient name, numeric amount and unit per line, separated by vertical bars. Amounts scale together, but their entered units are retained rather than converted. The full list can be downloaded as CSV.
The calculation
Worked example
Scaling four servings to six gives a 1.5× factor: 500 g flour becomes 750 g and 300 ml water becomes 450 ml.
Assumptions and limits
Linear ingredient scaling does not automatically scale cooking time, pan geometry, seasoning intensity or food-safety temperatures. Whole eggs and discrete portions may need a practical rounding choice.
Common questions
Does this convert cups to grams?
No. That needs ingredient-specific density information.
Can I use fractional servings?
Yes. The mathematical scaling factor can be fractional; adapt discrete ingredients sensibly.
