How to use the IPv4 and IPv6 Subnet Calculator
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address and its CIDR prefix. IPv4 allows 0–32 bits; IPv6 allows 0–128. IPv6 compression and embedded IPv4 suffixes are supported; ranges are calculated with exact integers.
The calculation
Worked example
192.168.1.10/24 has network 192.168.1.0, broadcast 192.168.1.255 and 256 addresses.
Assumptions and limits
No routing or address discovery. IPv6 has no broadcast address. Zone identifiers and scoped addresses are rejected; IPv4 host-count conventions remain explicit.
Common questions
Which inputs should I use?
Enter an IPv4 dotted-decimal address and a prefix from zero to 32. The tool separates the total address count from conventional usable host counts.
What does the result exclude?
No IPv6, routing or network discovery. /31 is treated as a two-address point-to-point range and /32 as one address; actual subnet assignment policies can differ.
