How to use the Pitched Roof Material Area Calculator

Enter roof footprint including any overhang already measured. The slope factor assumes all included roof planes have the same pitch.

The calculation

Sloped area = plan area × √[1+(rise/12)²]; packs = ceil[sloped area×(1+allowance)/pack area]

Worked example

100 m² horizontal area at 6:12 pitch is 111.8034 m² of roof; with 10% allowance and 3 m² packs, 41 packs are needed.

Assumptions and limits

No structural design, roof-layout optimizer, valleys, flashing or code rules. Complex roofs and variable pitch need separate sections and product-specific coverage.
