How to use the Molar Concentration Calculator

Use the final solution volume after dissolving, not the initial solvent volume. Supply the correct molar mass for the substance and account for purity separately if relevant.

The calculation

Molarity_mol/L = mass_g / molar mass_g/mol / final solution volume_L

Worked example

5.844 g at molar mass 58.44 g/mol in one liter of final solution gives 0.1 mol/L.

Assumptions and limits

Does not identify a chemical, assess solubility or provide safe preparation instructions. Temperature-dependent volume and nonideal activity are excluded.
